As productive as Wilson was in generating 4,349 all-purpose yards

"He was our workhorse at Virginia Tech," Hosley said. "I think he's going to go out Sunday and be the man and carry the load. He's a guy who can handle that."

As productive as Wilson was in generating 4,349 all-purpose yards for the Hokies, the Giants continue to view him as an exciting prospect but a project as well.

"He's still got some areas that you guys won't see that need some significant upgrading so we can keep the entire offense going," Gilbridetold reporters on Thursday.

The project also tracks spending, and reports show the presidential

The nearly 18,000 Senate race ads in Wisconsin were the second-highest total in the country, behind the 25,211 ads on the Montana Senate race during the first three weeks of October.

The ad data comes from reports produced by the Wesleyan Media Project at Wesleyan University in Connecticut. The ongoing tracking project is the successor to the Wisconsin Advertising Project, which ended in 2009.

The project also tracks spending, and reports show the presidential and senate races have been lucrative for local broadcasting stations and national cable networks.

From Oct 1 through Oct. 21, the presidential candidates and supporting groups spent $8.4 million on ads. That's a 92.7 percent increase over spending during the previous three-week period, which began after the Democratic and Republican national political conventions.

As rain intensified late in the first half

But Antigua's speed began to pay off and, as has been their tendency throughout qualifying, the Americans got lax on defense. A quick burst by Peter Byers got him free in the area on right wing and when center back Clarence Goodson fell, Byers tapped the ball to an uncovered Blackstock for the equalizer.

As rain intensified late in the first half, the United States again took charge of possession, but couldn't connect. Bradleywas just off-target with a 25-yard blast in the 40th minute, his shot glancing off the right goalpost. The hosts then challenged Howard with a quick counterattack, but the veteran keeper caught the shot from Byers.

Blackstock shot wide in the final seconds of the half with the Americans off-balance in their end.

The young Oakland Athletics have seen too many of these endings

The young Oakland Athletics have seen too many of these endings lately during their playoff chase.

Adrian Beltre singled home the winning run in the ninth inning Monday night, after tying the game two innings earlier with his 35th homer, and the Texas Rangers rallied past Oakland 5-4 to stretch their AL West lead over the  Athleticsto five games with nine to play.

"It's one game. We have to bounce back. We did that in both Detroit and New York. We lost some tough ones and bounced back," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "It would have been nice to start off with a win in the series, but you have to move on from it."

The Razorbacks started slowly for the second straight game

The Razorbacks started slowly for the second straight game, even with Wilson in the lineup in the first half.

Arkansas struggled at times in last week's season-opening win over JacksonvilleState, allowing 163 yards passing in the first half to the FCS Gamecocks. The Razorbacks' defensive woes continued Saturday.

Browning was at the center of Arkansas' frustrations, avoiding the Razorbacks time and again. His 4-yard touchdown pass to Centarius Donald put the Warhawks up 7-0 in the first half, and he closed Arkansas' lead to 28-21 early in the fourth quarter with a 1-yard touchdown pass to Kevin Steed.

The French have been led by flashy point guard Celine Dumerc

The French have been led by flashy point guard Celine Dumerc. She has been the catalyst for this remarkable run. Her 3-pointer with 0.2 seconds remaining in overtime helped beat Britain in the preliminary round. She also hit a big 3-pointer against Australia and two clinching free throws in the team's four-point win over Canada.

"She's having a tournament for the ages," U.S. coach Geno Auriemma said of Dumerc. "She's definitely been the MVP."

Bird wasn't surprised at France's incredible run to the championship game. After all, the French had been her sleeper team all along.

It will be the first time the two teams have played in the Olympics. France isn't scared of the world's top team.

Johnson took the lead on lap 28

"If it wasn't for the 48, we were probably in our zip code on the rest of the field, Busch said. "But Jimmie Johnson was in his own country today, so we just couldn't keep up with him."

Johnson took the lead on lap 28, beating Denny Hamlin out of the pits under green and on the race's final restart with 20 laps to go immediately bolted away from the field rendering the question of the final segment not "Who will win?" but rather "Will a caution erase this lead?"

It was Johnson's fourth Brickyard 400 win and the type of controlling win that's become commonplace for the 48 team, especially during Johnson's 2006-2010 championship run.
